What is the filtering endpoint?
The HostuxDNS /ads endpoint blocks domains that appear in
publicly maintained ad and tracker filter lists. It is an opt-in feature:
you have to configure your browser or device to use
https://dns.hostux.net/ads explicitly. The standard endpoint
(https://dns.hostux.net/dns-query) does not block anything.
A false positive is when a legitimate domain gets blocked because it appears in one of those lists by mistake.
Check before reporting
Before reporting, confirm that the filtering endpoint is the cause:
- Note the domain that is broken or unreachable.
- Temporarily switch your browser or device to the standard endpoint:
https://dns.hostux.net/dns-query - Reload the page or retry the connection.
- If it works on the standard endpoint but not on
/ads, you have confirmed a false positive.
If the issue persists on the standard endpoint, the problem is not related to filtering and may be a connectivity or resolver issue.
What to include in a report
- The affected domain (exact hostname, e.g.
cdn.example.com). - What feature or website stops working when the domain is blocked.
- Confirmation that the issue disappears when using the standard endpoint.
- The browser, app, or system you used when you noticed the problem.
How to submit
Send your report by e-mail to help@hostux.net.
Reports are reviewed manually. If the domain is confirmed as a false positive, it will be added to a local allowlist.
